Our First Exhibition For The New Year!

Whiteout

a celebration of texture, pattern and traditional design

Gwenda Turner 'Sand Dunes' 90 x 90cm

The start of a new year is always a wonderful time to usher in a fresh new perspective for the year ahead, and after our MASSIVE end of year sale, we thought we would strip it all back.

Whiteout showcases artworks that are predominately white, and celebrates the artists' use of texture, pattern and traditional design. There is an exquisite serenity to the space, yet each artwork still has an incredible energy which reveals itself slowly.

We hope you enjoy our first exhibition for 2016!

Exhibition - APY Lands

APY Lands

rich, diverse, energetic

3 october - 30 october

You may not have heard of this region before, but the artists from this special part of Australia are producing work that is winning wide acclaim!

This month, our third level collectors' gallery showcases a rich, diverse and energetic selection of works from the APY Lands.

The APY Lands comprise 103,000 square kilometres of arid desert, rugged mountain ranges and hidden rockholes in the far north west of South Australia. APY stands for 'Anangu, Pitjantjatjara, Yankunutjatjara' which translates to country of the Pitjantjatjara & Yankunutjatjara people.

The APY Lands have a long, vibrant history of bringing Aboriginal art and craft to the world. Ernabella was home to the first art centre in the area, established in 1948! However, it is only in the last 10 years that this region has shot to prominence and become a significant force in the contemporary Aboriginal art scene.

The trail blazers in this step change, Jimmy Baker and his sister-in-law Maringka Baker, along with the highly collectible Tommy Watson form pride of place in this exhibition.

Hanging alongside them are the next generation of artists, many of whom are relatives, that are just bursting with artistic talent. There is a sensational individual quality to each of the artists' works which makes this exhibition so exciting.

Works range from large corporate pieces, to a gorgeous selection of 30 x 30cm pieces that make the perfect gift (or a nice little gift for yourself!)!

We hope you can visit us this weekend and enjoy a glass of bubbly as you are hypnotized by the dazzling works of this special part of Australia.

Artists Include: Tommy Watson, Jimmy Baker, Maringka Baker, Teresa Baker, Patricia Baker Tunkin, Sylvia Ken, Elaine Woods, Bronwyn Jimmy, Venita Woods, Jorna Newberry, Janice Woods, Wipana Jimmy, Julie Woods, Katrina Pollard Nampitjinpa, Kay Baker, Anne Dixon Nangala, Angela Watson and many more!

 Warm Regards,

Geoff and the crew at KOG
